The Beginning

Welcome to Pet Expectations Hands to Paws a Pet Lovers platform for those of you in need of some education or help with making plans for your pets.  It's something all of us worry about, what will happen to my pets if something happens to me?  What if all of us were there for each other?  What if we rescued each others pets?  Is it really so hard to imagine?  On January 4, 2011 Pet Expectations along with all of it's customers launched this blog as a beginning step in trying to help solve one of the biggest worries all of us face.  Let's see what happens, when we work together.

  1. Hi Jill,

I think this is a wonderful idea! I have a file for each of my fur kids and my parrot. I have a letter on my fridge for anyone to find if something happens to me. It tells where my files are for my pets so that there is all the information needed for each of them. All of their vet records, phone numbers, and who will take my animals if something is wrong. Or if I am taken to the hospital who will be taking care of my pets. I also have ICE numbers on my phone that when called will get a hold of people who can help with not only my pets, but my home. I hope that we get lots of folks joining this blog! I am so excited about it and so thankful to be a part of it! Thanks Jill!!!!!!

  3. I don't know about other states; but, here in the Northern California there are several "no kill" shelters. They take the pets and DO NOT put them to sleep unless it is a quality of life issue. They keep the animals until they are adopted or die naturally. One is Tony LaRussa's Animal Rescue Foundation in Walnut Creek and the other is the Humane Society of Silicon Valley in Milpitas. My 3rd grade class had a field trip to the Humane Society and the facilities are beautiful. Dogs are taken to the dog park (that is right there) and some bigger dogs have a door that allows them to go out side (like a private backyard). The older cats have a large bright (from natural light) room that is kind of like a kitty living room. They run around freely with toys and bedding, etc. I am sure there are more of these places around the country and they take other animals besides dogs and cats. I know it doesn't help with the parrot; but, it is an option to look in to.
